Why We’re Special

 

Holy Redeemer Nursery School offers a collective experience that is rarely found in community preschools. The school embraces learning beyond the confines of the classroom. From field trips and plays to special performances to charity projects, these traditions help prepare the children for a world of education, entertainment, and most importantly, helping others.

 

Field Trips

 

Several field trips are planned every year to

give students the opportunity to learn about

their world. These trips have included visits

to the dentist, the post-office, nature center

and Glen Echo Park’s Adventure Theatre.

The cost of these experiences is included in

your child’s activity fee, paid at the start of the

year. Parents are asked to drive carpools of children

to these fun, educational activities.

 

Special Programs

 

From the adorable annual Thanksgiving feast, when tiny pilgrims invite tiny Indians to share their feast, to the touching Mother’s Day luncheon, the teachers work hard to plan and present these elaborate productions, creating misty eyes and wonderful memories for families and staff alike.

 

Puppet shows, magicians and the much-anticipated visits with Santa turn the tables and allow the children to be the entertained instead of the entertainers.

 

Helping Others

 

Each year, boxes and boxes of food are prepared and delivered to  deserving families. A holiday toy drive provides Christmas joy to children who may otherwise go without.

 

But the help doesn’t end with strangers. The nursery school community helps each other as well. All late fees, whether for late pick-up or late tuition, go to a special fund used to provide scholarship dollars to families who are struggling financially so they won’t have to remove their children from the school because they can’t afford the tuition.

  

The school community also organizes the preparation of meals and play dates for families affected by death or illness, and the classes make flower bouquets for the mothers when a student welcomes a new sibling. The community at Holy Redeemer Nursery School is one of its greatest strengths.
